UI/UX & Product Design

trainy

AI-powered fitness and athlete development platform designed for young athletes, coaches, and parents, combining training management, performance analysis, communication, and social engagement in a single ecosystem. Using motion analysis through video recordings, the platform provides athletes with AI-generated feedback on movement quality and progress while also supporting team interaction, scheduling, leaderboards, and progress tracking across all user roles.

challange

One of the main challenges was designing a fitness ecosystem that simultaneously serves athletes, coaches, and parents without making the experience overly complex or fragmented. Each user group has fundamentally different goals and behaviors: athletes need motivation, progression, and social interaction; coaches require oversight and performance tracking; while parents want visibility into schedules, communication, and development. Creating a unified system that supports all three perspectives while maintaining clarity and usability was a core product challenge. Another major challenge was integrating AI-powered movement analysis into a user experience that feels accessible and trustworthy. Motion analysis and performance feedback can easily become too technical or difficult to interpret, especially for younger athletes. The system needed to translate complex AI outputs into understandable, actionable insights while still feeling engaging and motivating

solution

The solution was to build a role-based platform architecture with personalized experiences for athletes, coaches, and parents. The athlete side focuses on motivation, progression, and social interaction through leaderboards, team participation, and performance tracking. Coaches receive structured oversight tools for monitoring athlete schedules, training activity, and AI-generated movement analysis, while parents gain visibility into progress and communication without unnecessary complexity. To support the AI analysis experience, the platform was designed around simplified feedback systems that transform raw motion data into clear visual insights and understandable recommendations. Instead of exposing technical metrics alone, the app presents progress through intuitive scoring, guided improvement suggestions, and progression tracking, making advanced analysis feel approachable and useful in everyday training routines.

how was the process going

discovery & analysis

The discovery phase focused on understanding how young athletes, coaches, and parents interact within modern sports and training environments, and where current fitness applications fail to support long-term development, communication, and engagement. The goal was to create a connected ecosystem that combines training, scheduling, AI-powered analysis, and social interaction into a single cohesive experience.

ux structure

The UX structure was built around a role-based system where athletes, coaches, and parents all interact with the same ecosystem but see different layers of functionality. The athlete side is the core experience, combining training programs, AI analysis, calendar, chat, and social features into one continuous flow focused on progress and motivation.

Coaches get a structured dashboard for managing athletes, tracking performance, reviewing AI movement analysis, and controlling schedules. Parents have a simplified overview with key updates on progress, attendance, and communication, without unnecessary detail.

Navigation dynamically adapts to the user role, keeping the system consistent while adjusting complexity depending on who is using it.

interface design

The interface design was built around clarity, motivation, and fast interaction, since the primary users are young athletes who need to access training, feedback, and communication in a very direct way. The visual system focuses on reducing friction and making key actions like starting a workout, checking progress, or reviewing AI feedback instantly accessible.

A strong emphasis was placed on hierarchy and readability across all roles. The athlete interface is more dynamic and engaging, with progress visuals, training cards, and social elements like leaderboards and team activity. Coach and parent interfaces are more structured and information-focused, prioritizing clarity, monitoring, and quick overview states.

The AI analysis feature was designed as a central visual component of the experience. Instead of presenting raw data, results are translated into simple, understandable feedback cards with clear improvement signals and progression indicators, making complex motion analysis feel accessible and actionable.

Overall, the UI system balances motivation and structure, creating an experience that feels engaging for athletes while remaining functional and efficient for coaches and parents.

outcomes

The final product delivers a unified multi-role fitness ecosystem that connects athletes, coaches, and parents within a single structured platform. It successfully centralizes training, communication, scheduling, and performance tracking, reducing fragmentation across multiple tools and improving coordination between all participants.

The AI-powered motion analysis becomes a key differentiator, transforming raw video input into clear, actionable feedback that supports athlete development in a way that is both accessible and engaging. This makes advanced performance evaluation available outside of professional environments, without increasing complexity for the user.

From a UX perspective, the role-based structure ensures that each user type receives exactly the level of information they need — from detailed training and progress tracking for athletes, to oversight dashboards for coaches, and simplified visibility for parents. The result is a scalable system that supports long-term athlete development while maintaining clarity, motivation, and ease of use across all roles.
